Job Summary:  The Stock Grower is responsible for the execution of care and proper maintenance of all planting stock.

Position Type:  Full-time required (40 hours/week).  Position requires employees to be prepared to work in all weather conditions (rain or shine) at tasks that are sometimes physically demanding.  Travel between farms is required as part of the position.


  • Maintain stock plant health and quality through proper irrigation, fertilization and pest control techniques
  • Make pesticide applications as required and follow standard work procedures to ensure compliance with all state and federal laws
  • Perform regular testing to assure proper soil chemistry and plant nutrition
  • Perform virus testing of stock plants as needed
  • Organize stock potting and crop set down location with Production Administrator
  • Conduct all tasks related to stock plant health and quality (e.g., trimming, watering, fertility, potting, manipulation of stock to ensure quality cuttings and discarding of old material)
  • Make recommendations regarding improved operating policies and procedures
  • Maintain accurate stock inventory and complete proper paperwork
  • Maintain a clean and organized growing area

Required Knowledge / Skills:

  • Must have knowledge of basic growing techniques
  • Must be able to do simple math calculations and conversions
  • Understand different cultural requirements of plants based on where they grow in the landscape/field in order to properly care for and maintain the quality of product awaiting production
  • Must have solid knowledge of pesticide safety and application techniques
  • Must have effective listening and communication skills
  • Be able to obtain a PA Pesticide applicators license
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
